The government has directed to tighten the security of 35 hospitals of the city by declaring them sensitive. According to official sources, these hospitals have been divided into three categories and the security measures have also been taken accordingly.
While the Government Emerson College has been closed for two more days as construction of college boundary wall is not completed. Bahauddin Zakariya University has also taken some more steps to improve the security of the students and 2.5 feet wide iron wall is being constructed around the 13 km area. Latest arms and ammunition have also been provided to security guards.
Parking of visitors' vehicles has been prohibited in the University. Inter-university shuttle has been started in the university for the students to move from one department to other department. The services of National Police Foundation have also been hired for the city and main campus. Security cards are also being issued to students, teachers and university employees.
On the other hand, Interior Ministry Punjab has formed 4-member District Monitoring Cell to check the security of educational institutions. DCO Multan, Khurram Ali Agha is the convenor of District Monitoring Cell Multan whereas other members are SSP Operations, Agha Yousuf, EDO (Education) Afzal Javed and DDO (Colleges) Mian Mumtaz Ahmad.
Education Department Multan has sent the appraisal of Rs 650 million for the purchase of walkthrough gates, metal detectors, recruitment of security guards, construction of boundary wall and iron gate for the girls and boys high schools of the city to district administration. Education Department Punjab has released the amount of Rs 5 million in this regard and the rest of the security measures would be taken after the release of further funds.
