As many as 3182 people died in roads accidents in 23 districts of the province during the last three years. According to official statistics 1094 people died in road accidents in the year 2006, 1097 in 2007 and this figure came down to 991 in the year 2008.
The highest number of fatalities in road accidents were recorded in Karachi where 658 people died in road accidents in 2006, 627 in 2007 and 655 in 2008. Tando Mohammed Khan is the district where lowest number of fatalities in road accidents were recorded at 6 in 2006 and 2007 and 04 in 2008. Thatta was on second position with highest number of road accidents deaths which stood at 38 in 206, 39 in 2007 and 46 in 2008.

A cursory look at these figures shows that there had been higher number of road accidents in districts where cities are located at the National Highway and less in cities located off the highways.
