Sindh Minister for Commerce and Industries Rauf Siddiqui, expressing concern that Smeda's training centre was not activated despite the provision of million of rupees, has asked the FIA to initiate an enquiry into the matter. Presiding over a meeting of Smeda, the minister noted that only a single room of the training centre was constructed.
The meeting, among others, attended by Managing Director, Regional Director and other officials of the corporation. The minister said he had sent a letter to the FIA wherein he had requested it to initiate an enquiry into the training centre's matter.
The minister has also formed a two-member committee to audit the assets of Smeda. He was presented a report on the progress of work on different construction projects being undertaken in different cities of the province. He was informed that some contractors were not executing the task effectively.
Rauf Siddqui said all such contractors would be blacklisted and strict action would be taken against them and their charges would not be paid. He further said an enquiry would be conducted against such elements. He terminated the services of Director of Hyderabad Region Ghulam Nabi Maher and Joint Director Muhammad Rafiq for negligence in discharge of their duties.-PR
