In view of present security situation, an emergent meeting of the Board of Governors of Punjab Council of the Arts (PCA), is being held on Friday, November 6, 2009. The meeting will give approval to recruitment of security guards and purchase of walk through gates and other expenditures in relation to security measures in art councils and cultural complexes.
Provincial Minister for Culture, Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr Tanvir ul Islam said this here, on Monday, in a high level meeting held to review the security arrangements of every Arts Council in Punjab. The provincial minister directed authorities concerned to ensure foolproof security arrangements in all the Art Councils and Cultural Complexes in the Punjab, besides installation of walk through gates.
In addition to increase number of security guards, checking of staff and spectators by metal detectors has also been made compulsory. It was also decided that there would be only one entrance in the Arts Council. The minister for Culture directed that in order to overcome the shortage of security guards, new personnel should be hired. He also directed to maintain a complete record of the artists, who perform in the arts councils.
