Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan has directed the formation of Ulema Committee in the province to liaison between madaris, Ulema and the government. He was talking to a delegation of Ulema, led by Maulana Adil of Jamia Rehmania, which called on him at the Governor House here Tuesday.
The delegation included the representative Ulema of Jamia Binnoria, Darul Uloom Karachi, Jamia Rashidia, Jamia Rehmania and others. On Ulema's concern regarding action by the law enforcing agencies at the madaris recently, the Governor assured that with better liaison, such incidents could be checked.
The Governor pointed out that the country is passing through a sensitive phase and greater responsibility devolves upon Ulema, madaris and associated people to ensure that unwanted elements do not join their ranks. He told them to create awareness among their students, so that they may convey information about suspected elements and their activities to responsible people of their madaris. The Ulema said that they have been co-operating with the government and this will continue in future also.
