A seven-member delegation of Karachi Iron & Steel Merchants Association (Kisma), led by its Chairman, Ghulam Mohammad, met Pakistan Steel Mills Managing Director Rasool Baksh Phulpotto to discuss their future sales policy. The Managing Director apprised the delegation of the present hurdles and its plans to overcome them.
The Managing Director informed the delegation about arrivals of the raw material (ships that are already at Port Qasim) and the expected two vessels of iron ore and coal during November. The Kisma delegation assured the Mills management of their fullest support in getting the most prestigious and strategically important venture of the country out of trouble.
On the point of falling sales of Pakistan Steel Mills products, the Managing Director agreed that market sources should be freely allowed to operate as per demand and supply of the product. The Kisma Chairman reminded the Managing Director of Pakistan Steel Mills about the proposed shifting of the steel market, and the allocation of the 415 acres of land by the previous management, upon which the MD assured them to re-study the case as per present ground realities.
The Kisma Chairman reminded the Managing Director of Pakistan Steel Mills about the cases of Kisma's member for the grant of new dealership which are pending for a couple of years against which Phulpoto assured the delegation to look into the matter personally and to issue new dealership to the genuine steel traders which were ignored in the past. It was mutually decided that a committee should be formed from the management of Pakistan Steel Mills and members of Kisma to keep liaison and to frame the future sales policy of Pakistan Steel Mills.-PR
