PPP determined to protect democracy at any cost: President

President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday said that Pakistan Peoples Party has always been in the forefront to defend democracy and would continue to do so in the future as well. He said this while addressing a meeting with Jamiat Ulema-e- Islam parliamentarians that was jointly presided over by President Zardari and Ameer JUI Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman.
The meeting was also attended by Rehman Malik, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Mian Raza Rabbani, Dr Babar Awan, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Jahangir Badar, Senator Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, Fouzia Wahab, Fouzia Habib, Rukhsana Bangash, Abdul Qayyum Soomro and Spokesperson to the President former Senator Farhatullah Babar. The President said that PPP respected the view point of some allied parties not to bring the NRO in the Parliament.
He said that the party was determined to protect democracy at any cost and would not let anyone destabilise it. The President also thanked the JUI(F) for its constant support as an ally in the government. Addressing the meeting Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman said that the JUI (F) was an ally of the government and will abide by all agreements between the allies.
He said that he appreciated the PPP and President Asif Ali Zardari for trying to take the allies and coalition partners along with them on all important issues. Reciprocating the sentiments of Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, President Zardari said that a committee comprising PPP and JUI members will be constituted to address the matters pertaining to the alliance between the two parties.
Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan will be the convenor of the committee. Other members of the committee are Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Rehman Malik and Qamar Zaman Kaira from PPP and Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri, Azam Khan Swati and Senator Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.
