The Finance Division has released Rs 5 billion to the State Bank of Pakistan out of Rs 10 billion allocated for the current financial year for various initiatives envisaged in the Textile Policy 2009-14, said Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Dr Waqar Masood.
He stated this while briefing the participants of the first meeting of the Textile Policy Implementation Liaison Committee about the progress on the implementation of the policy, here on Thursday. The meeting was chaired by Federal Minister for Textile Industry Rana Muhammad Farooq Saeed Khan.
The Secretary also informed that notifications regarding important initiatives of the policy had already been issued. While the Federal Minister for Textile Industry reiterated his resolve to implement the Textile Policy 2009-14 in letter and spirit.
The members of the committee deliberated upon various issues regarding implementation of the policy. The industrialists thanked Federal Minister Rana Muhammad Farooq Saeed Khan for giving them representation in this important forum formulated to review the policy implementation.
The meeting was attended by prominent textile industrialists of the country representing different sub-sectors. They included Bashir Ali Muhammad, Chairman M/S Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Ltd, Zubair Motiwala, Managing Director, Diamond Textile Pvt Ltd, Rafiq Gondal, Chief Executive, Unicon Industries, Pvt Ltd, Tariq Mehmood, Chief Executive, Pak-Kuwait Textiles Limited, Rana Muhammad Mushtaq, Chairman, Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association, Sheikh Tanveer Ahmed, Managing Director, M/S Allah Wasaya Textile & Furnishing Mill, Ijaz A.
