Khwaja Muhammad Asif of PML-N had to face embarrassment without purpose in the National Assembly when he passed remarks unintentionally against a lady MNA Farkhanda Amjad moving towards the Prime Minster's desk with a file in her hands for getting his signatures.
On these remarks, the lady MNA of PML-Q felt insulted and as she returned to her seat after a few moments, she started weeping. The women members and other colleagues consoled her. Treasury members taking serious note of the issue compelled the chair to direct Khawaja to seek apology from her.
The Primer Minister also called Khawaja Asif to his desk and asked him to go to the seat of Farkhanda Amjad and ask her for excuse, as she is an honourable elected member of the House. On the Prime Minster's advice, Khawaja went to her seat and sought apology. Later, the Prime Minster went to Farkhanda and consoled her on this untoward happening.
It is a matter of routine in the National Assembly that when the Leader of the House comes for taking part in the proceedings, MPs from both side of the divide throng his desk with papers or files in their hands to get the Prime Minister's signatures on files.
On Thursday MNAs gathered around the PM to get their files cleared on which the Speaker had to intervene saying "please take your seats" as the House proceedings are in progress if "you have some personal agenda meet the PM in his chamber or his secretariat to get the needful done," she added.
