Amir Jamaat-i-Islami Syed Munawar Hassan has said that the purpose of the meeting of President Zardari with the coalition partners is to pave way for tabling the controversial National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) again in the parliament. The government had accepted the defeat on NRO for the time being, he said while addressing a congregation at Mansoora, here on Friday.
The government was planning to impose curbs on media. "If curbs were imposed on media, people will start a campaign for free media as they did for the restoration of judiciary," he said. Hassan said that the government did not respect the public mandate given on February 18 elections.
"Instead of resolving the problems of masses they are dancing on the tunes of America," he said. "People are fed up with atta, sugar, gas and electricity crises because these issues have made their life miserable. Media was portraying the true picture of the state of affairs that is why they are trying to impose curbs," he said.
