Inspector General National Highways and Motorway Police (NH & MP) Dr Wasim Kausar has called upon the officers of Motorway Police to treat commuters with great respect and courtesy. He was speaking in a meeting at camp office Lahore, here on Friday. The DIG Syed Ibne Hussain and SSP Muhammed Ali Nekokara were also present on the occasion.
Dr Kausar said that rule of law should be ensured in all respects and without any discrimination. He said that every road user must be given equal respect while dealing with people on Motorways and Highways. He said that Challan was not our priority but respect and help of road users was essential.
Speaking to the police officers he said police officers would be promoted in the near future. The success of the motorway police was based on teamwork. He advised senior officers to observe the behaviour of junior officers and guide them in a proper way. He warned all the officers that no complaint of misbehaver or high-handedness would be tolerated in any condition.
He further advised officers to take good care of the road users, as the provision of help, their counselling and guidance to the road users was the hallmark of Motorway Police.
"To decrease the accident rate, lane discipline must be enforced in all conditions on highways and on motorways as most of the accidents on Motorways occur due to carelessness of drivers, therefore, all possible measures should be taken to deal with this issue. The policy of Zero accident within department be ensured," he said.
