Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry here on Friday directed for disposal of pending cases of under-trial prisoners of Central Jail Adyala, Rawalpindi, within three months without fail. The Chief Justice issued direction on a joint application of under-trial prisoners requesting for justice.
The Chief Justice in his order on the human rights case said "Police Officer be directed to send fortnightly report to the Registrar in respect of progress of the cases. However, those cases are to be decided within three months without fail." "Copy of this order be also sent to Law Secretary, Government of Pakistan with the list of cases.
Similarly list be procured from all those Courts which are working under CNS Act 1997," the order further said. The report was called from Judge Special Court (CNS) Rawalpindi who disclosed in his report that out of 28 cases only one case was decided. The remaining cases were pending for evidence, he added.
