DCO Saeed Wahlah has said available quota of sugar is being transparently provided to domestic consumers in the district under a comprehensive distribution plan, however, people are facing hardships as demand is higher at some places than the allocated quota.
He said this at an emergent meeting which was convened to review public complaints regarding availability of sugar in the district. The DCO said about 2,400 bags of sugar as 30 per cent share of domestic use out of total quota fixed for the district were being distributed at the official price of Rs 40/- per kg through fair price shops.
He said steps were being taken to obtain additional quota and increase fair price shops so that sugar could be supplied to domestic consumers as per their needs. He directed the monitoring staff to ensure sale of sugar at fair price shops in a transparent manner. He asked the concerned officers to ensure the sale of sugar at fair price shops to facilitate consumers and that banners in this regard should be displayed at conspicuous places of shops.
