Federal Minister for Communications Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan Khalil said here Sunday that PPP would change destiny of people living in Gilgit-Biltistan (GB) and will give special attention to improve their socio-economic condition after winning the election of constituent assembly.
Addressing a huge public gathering here on second day of his three days visit to Gilgit-Biltistan, he said PPP was symbol of federation and after coming into power in Gilgit-Biltistan, it would change destiny of people and work for elimination of illiteracy, poverty and unemployment.
He said that the government of PPP was giving special focus to development of Gilgit-Baltistan and expressed the confidence that PPP's candidates would win the upcoming elections with heavy majority. He said the present PPP government was committed to bring economic prosperity and development in the area.
Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan said important highways and roads in Gilgit-Biltistan would be constructed and repaired to provide quick and speedy communication facilities to people. Special attention was being given on development of communication sector in GB that would bring massive investment to this scenic region, he said adding, the government was striving hard to establish strong communication links with the Central Asian States through the Karakoram Highway, whereas this important highway will also facilitate to connect Gawadar with China under the National Trade Corridor programme.
The Federal Minister said that we were moving forward with the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, ZA Bhutto and our objective was to make people of this area prosperous by eradicating poverty and illiteracy.
He said that Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed and ZA Bhutto Shaheed had given political vision to people of Gilgit-Biltistan while the present government of PPP has given them their identity. Because of our exemplary performance for the solution of peoples' problems, he said PPP enjoys absolute support of the people of the country, therefore, in the upcoming elections of Gilgit-Baltistan Constituent Assembly, the candidates of Pakistan Peoples Party will win with heavy majority. The candidate of PPP from Constituency No 2 Muhammad Naseer Khan presented traditional 'Cogha' and cap to Federal Minister for Communication Arbab Alamgir Khan on this occasion.
