The University of Sindh has conducted pre entry test for admission to Bachelor Degree Programme in all teaching Institutes and departments in various disciplines under the Faculties of Arts, Commerce and Business Administration, Education, Natural Sciences, Pharmacy, Social Sciences and Islamic Studies on Sunday.
Pre entry test was conducted by the Sindh University Testing Centre (SUTC) at Allama I.I.Kazi Campus Jamshoro. A number of 8393 candidates, 6637 male and 1756 female submitted their admission forms. The University on various grounds rejected 17 admission forms of candidates, which includes 16 male and one female. Total 8376 candidates, 6621 male and 1755 female candidates appeared in the pre entry test.
The University set-up 159 examination blocks for male and 44 examination blocks for the female candidates in class rooms of three floors of Faculty of Arts building and also main ground and lawns of the Faculty, while entire examination blocks were connected with sound system with the central Control room.
The University made excellent security measures at the campus and also proper checking system at entry point of the campus and arts faculty building. The point buses of the students plied from different routes of Hyderabad, Latifabad and Qasimabad to facilitate the candidates.
The candidates appeared in the test were guided in Sindhi, Urdu and English languages by Dr Mahmood Mughal, Dr Marhab Qasimi and Dr Abida Taherani, respectively. Before starting of Pre entry test Professor Hafiz Manzoor Ahmed Shaikh recited from holy Quran.
The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui on this occasion welcomed the candidates and hoped that those candidates who have worked hard would be benefited from hardworking. He said that University of Sindh is first oldest University of Province and also second oldest University of the Country.
He said that since seven years the University has been conducting test by own and announced results within couple hours at the website.
The test arrangements were supervised by the Vice Chancellor, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui who also inspected arrangements and visited all examination blocks Dean faculty of Commerce and Business Administration and convenor of the announcement committee also expressed his views and highlighted arrangements for test made by the University. The Pro Vice Chancellors Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, Dr Iqbal Ahmed Panhwar, Deans of the Faculties, members of Senate, Syndicate, Academic Council, Registrar Muhammad Saleh Rajar and senior professors also supervised the test arrangements. The Provincial Senior Minister for Education Pir Mazharul Haq who is also Pro-Chancellor of the Universities of Province paid his surprise visit to the University and inspected the arrangements of the test. He visited various examination blocks and appreciated the arrangements made by the University management. He said that among public sector Universities only the University of Sindh is capable to conduct the pre entry test under its own arrangements and added that it was first time he has been witnessing pre entry test.
He said that the University of Sindh had conducted test for the schoolteachers through a transparent system and decision of assignment given to the University was perfectly right. He said that nowadays in UK there is a system that only one organisation has been conducting test for admissions to all the Universities and added that slowly and gradually pre entry test system would be implemented here in all public sector institutes of Pakistan. He said that government has been striving hard to improve the quality of education at primary and secondary level and took very serious efforts for the purpose.
