09 Nov, 2009

PML-Q leader Pervaiz Ellahi has held Punjab government and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif responsible for the ongoing sugar crisis in Punjab. Addressing his party workers at his Gulberg residence on Sunday, he said that Competition Commission had also exposed "their" inefficiency on sugar crisis.
"On the one hand, people are running from pillar to post to get sugar while on the other hand sugarcane growers are facing difficult time," he said.
He claimed that people are perturbed due to escalating prices and lawlessness while the rulers are showing indifferent attitude. He said that people are not getting sugar while report of Competition Commission is proof of inefficiency of the Shahbaz-led Punjab government.
Ellahi said that rice growers are forced to sell their produce at throwaway prices. He said the Punjab government had not taken any step for the resolution of problems confronted by the farmers.
