Message from Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Resources

12 Nov, 2009

The liberal policies of the present government have made it open for foreign companies to invest in energy sector. The sector is also open to potential ventures with private groups. Keeping this in mind that oil and gas sector is the moving force for progress in all sectors, our government is determined to keep upgrading and developing the policies.
Pakistan is blessed with the natural bounties; the need is to explore them. Unfortunately, the present economic scenario and internal and external threats that the country is facing make it impossible for the government to focus its economic resources in this sector; hence the need for partnership with foreign entities and joint ventures increases.
I must acknowledge that in a very short span of time MOL has established itself as the top foreign producers in Pakistan that is carrying out oil exploration by applying cutting edge technology. Their activities are not only generating revenue for the government but also opening the door of employment and thus helping the local communities uplift their living standards. Relying on local skills and expertise, MOL is exploring resources both human and natural in a way that is beneficial for all: the organisation, local communities and the country. I congratulate MOL on inaugural ceremony of Manzalai CPF in Karak.
