Message from chief minister, NWFP

12 Nov, 2009

I congratulate MOL on its inaugural ceremony of Manzalai Central Processing Facility in District Karak, NWFP. I must acknowledge that in a short span of time MOL has achieved its desired position and long term goals in Pakistan. Our province has huge deposits of oil and gas but lack of technical resources make it impossible to carry out the exploration and production activities without help.
So far oil and gas reserves have been found in its southern parts including district Kohat and district Karak. Commercial production in District Kohat at Shakardra (Chanda) oil/gas fields started in July, 2004. After that more oil/gas fields were found at Manzalai and Makori in District Karak. MOL Pakistan is among the top foreign producers in Pakistan.
I am also glad to know that MOL is looking for further investment opportunities in Pakistan petroleum sector through involvement in further Exploration Blocks and acquisition of state owned upstream/downstream opportunities available for privatisation. I hope that the E&P skill inventory gathered over the period of time will positively contribute towards the self-sustainability of Pakistan's energy needs. Their work in our province will encourage other international investors to come and harness the natural resources potentials of our province. Once again, I congratulate MOL And wish it good luck in all its Future endeavours.
