Pakistan Oilseeds Development Board (PODB) has convened a high profile meeting on November 14, 2009 (Saturday) in the provincial metropolis to discuss the matters pertaining to promotion of oilseed crops. All the stakeholders of the oilseed sector have been invited to discuss the oilseed crops situation and prospects of sunflower cultivation in the coming spring season, sources in the PODB Punjab office told Business Recorder here on Thursday.
The sources said that the meeting would be attended by the Director Generals of Agriculture (extension) of all the four provinces, representatives of farmers organisations, representatives of solvent and seed industry and representatives of Vanaspati ghee manufacturers association.
Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture (Minfa), Nazar Muhammad Gondal will chair the meeting. Sources said that the meeting is expected to set the sowing target of sunflower for the coming season, its support price and supply of seeds besides discussion on the problems being faced by the solvent industry.
