13 Nov, 2009

Crop Maximisation Project arranged a three-day farmer field school for training of its staff with regard to wheat sowing. The workshop was held in the Agriculture House which was co-ordinated by Co-ordinator Cabi Ghulam Ali who also acted as trainer. Workshop was attended by the agricultural officers, district project managers and other high officials from all the districts of the said project.
The basic objective of the workshop was to extend technical assistance to the growers for increasing the wheat production so as they could grow their crop on scientific lines and enhance their per acre yield. It would help making the country self-reliant in food.
Trainer Ghulam Ali said that farmer field school is an informal school where field is a school and plant is a teacher. Participants exchange their views and experiences with each other and think collectively to solve various problems faced by the growers. This school also test practically various recommendations.
