Lack of transparency in recruitment process: LHC seeks report from Wapda chief

13 Nov, 2009

The Lahore High Court (LHC) complaint cell has sought report from chairman Wapda within ten days on a complaint of a citizen about lack of transparency in recruitment process. Hasan Abbas, a citizen has sent a complaint to LHC saying all power distribution companies across the country are hiring employees for the posts of grade 1 to 16.
The hiring process lacks transparency as all companies have waived written test on the pretext that holding of test would be not feasible due to security situation. Only short-listed candidates would be interviewed for hiring.
The complainant said a few minutes interview could not determine the eligibility of a candidate. He apprehended that the condition of written test has been waived to accommodate favourites as it had been done in the department over the years. He said the LHC should direct PEPCO and its distribution companies to devise a foolproof method of hiring so that deserving persons are not deprived of their right.
