Agriculture scientists urged to conduct demand oriented research

Dr Mubarak Ali, Chief Executive, Punjab Agricultural Research Board (PARB) has asked agricultural scientists to conduct demand oriented research to solve problems faced by the farming community. He was speaking at the inaugural session of a three days training workshop on "Writing Research Proposals for Competitive Grand System".
Dr Muhammad Rafiq-ur-Rehman, Member (Co-ordination), Dr Abdul Rashid, Member (Monitoring & Evaluation), Azhar Hussain, Deputy Director (Admin & Finance) PARB and agricultural scientists from AARI, UAF, NIAB and other research institutions attended the workshop, whereas Ms Karine Malgrand French Trainer imparted the training.
Dr Mubarak Ali informed that government is giving top priority to agricultural research and for this purpose sufficient funds have been given to PARB and it is up to the agricultural scientists to utilise these funds to improve research quality.
He also highlighted the purpose of training workshop and said that workshop would help the scientists in preparing research proposals according to criteria established by PARB and international donors to seek funds through Competitive Grant System.
Ms Karine Malgrand informed about the various aspects of writing research proposals and elucidated criteria for seeking research funds. French Trainer has been specifically deputed to train Pakistani agricultural scientists, as master trainers to impart training in writing research proposals.
