Sugar crisis: 800 sale points established in Multan

In order to facilitate people, the district administration in Multan has established 800 sugar sale points in the city. This step was taken after receiving a number of complaints that shopkeepers were busy in hoarding sugar instead of selling it to the consumers.
EDO Javed Akhtar (Retd) told Business Recorder that the quota of sugar for the city had been increased to 60 percent according to the directions of the government. Sugar crisis in different cities is still continued and people are facing problems. Although, it is believed that the shortage has been created intentionally otherwise there is no shortage of sugar in the market.
Despite of government's claims, the situation is still not under its control. In Multan, people are compelled to buy sugar at Rs 80 per kg in black. It is also reported that some big guns in sugar markets are selling sugar at Rs 80 per kg and they have the stock of about 200,000 bags of sugar.
