The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday sought reply from federal minister for industries Manzoor Wattoo and other respondent in a petition challenging appointment of general manger Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Center (PITAC).
The petitioner Zafar Iqbal through his counsel contended that respondent Tariq Ahmed Chaudhry was appointed as GM, PITAC in 2008 in violation of merit as he did not possess the required qualification for the post. He pointed out that a person having mechanical graduation or electrical engineer with additional qualification of design project is eligible for the post but Tariq Chaudhry does not possess any of these qualifications.
His appointment was made only due to federal minister Manzoor Wattoo who used his political influence to get him appointed. The petitioner prayed to the court that explanation might be sought from secretary industries as to under which law he had appointed Tariq Ahmed Chaudhry as GM PITAC and declare his appointment as illegal and without lawful authority.
