The Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) observing, "He is aware of the situation and taking serious steps to fill up vacant seats in LHC" dismissed a petition praying for the appointment of further judges at LHC. The petitioner, Tahir Farooq Chaudhry has moved a petition saying shortage of judges was causing inordinate delay in dispensation of justice as backlog of the cases was further piling up.
He said the delay in filling seat had also badly affected national judicial policy that had aggravated litigants' problems who travelled from remote areas to reach the LHC but they have to return empty hands. He said people had supported lawyers' movement for the restoration of judges so that their miseries could be over but the situation has further deteriorated.
