US security advisor calls on Foreign Minister

The US National Security Advisor, General James Jones (Retd) met Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the Foreign Office on Friday. He was accompanied by his Deputy for counter-terrorism, John Brennan.Minister of Defence Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar and Minister for Finance Shaukat Tarin, also participated in the meeting, where. Bilateral and regional issues were discussed, said a press release issued here by the Foreign Office here.
General James Jones conveyed a strong message of support from President Obama for Pakistan-US strategic partnership and also conveyed appreciation to the government, people and the armed forces of Pakistan for their valiant struggle against extremism and terrorism and pledged that the US Administration's complete support, it added.
Highlighting the need to focus on Pakistan-US bilateral relations, the Foreign Minister raised the issue of peace and security in Afghanistan and its repercussions on Pakistan. Moreover, the need for close co-ordination and consultations on all issues of importance was underlined, it said.-PR
