Pakistan on Friday rejected the objections raised by India over Thursday's elections in Gilgit-Baltistan. A statement issued by Foreign Office Spokesman said: "We have seen the remarks by the Spokesperson of Indian External Affairs Ministry made today in which he has described the elections held in Gilgit-Baltistan on Thursday as "Just another cosmetic exercise intended to camouflage the fact of Pakistan's illegal occupation of the areas of the state of Jammu and Kashmir."
These remarks are unwarranted. The Government of India has no locus standi in the matter, it stated. The spokesman further said that as for the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is concerned, it stems from India's refusal to implement the relevant Security Council resolutions, which provide for a just solution to the dispute through the democratic method of a free and fair plebiscite.-PR
