17 Nov, 2009

Brazil's economy added the largest ever number of jobs for the month of October last month, the labour ministry said on Monday, in the latest sign of a strong recovery in Latin America's largest economy. Brazil's economy added 230,956 payroll jobs in October, the ninth straight month of increases, taking the number of jobs added so far this year to more than 1 million.
The October figure was the largest ever for that month, Labour Minister Carlos Lupi said. He expected 150,000 jobs to be created in November, which would be a record for that month also. Brazil emerged from a brief six-month recession in the second quarter of this year. It is expected to grow 0.2 percent in 2009 according to the latest weekly central bank survey of local financial institutions.
