Malik rejects Transparency International report

Federal Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik has out rightly rejected the Transparency International (TI) Report saying that the data collection system of the TI is not effective. "As far as the data collection system of the Transparency International is concerned there are many flaws in the system so the TI's report placing Pakistan on 42nd number on the list of corrupt nations is not acceptable."
The Minister said while talking to reporters after inauguration ceremony of E-Ennoblement of Islamabad Police held at police line headquarter here on Wednesday. "We do not trust the TI even then the prime minister took serious note of the matter and a committee was constituted to look into it," Malik opined.
Responding to a question, regarding Taliban Swat leader, Molvi Fazlullah's presence in Afghanistan, Malik expressed doubt on reports saying, it is not clear either Fazlullah is in Afghanistan or hiding anywhere in mountainous region of Tribal Areas of Pakistan. "I challenge the presence of Fazlullah in Afghanistan", Malik said, adding that a phone call cannot prove Fazlullah is alive and if he is alive and is in Afghanistan then Afghanistan government should arrest him and hand him over to Pakistan.
Pakistan extends all co-operation to the government of Afghanistan for appropriate action against Fazaullah if he is present in Afghanistan, he added. To another question, Rehman Malik, said that the terrorists are using Afghan province Kunar for their entry in Pakistan and government is making efforts to block their entry. "We have raised the matter with Afghan government to stop this cross border infiltration," he added.
He said that Afghan cell-phone SIMs are being used in Pakistan which is being investigated. Responding to a question regarding military operation in Waziristan, Interior Minister said that every individual in Pakistan said no to Taliban, "we would chase them wherever they go to eradicate militancy from the country. The present government is committed to fix them once for all," he added.
He said that all the upcoming internally displaced persons (IDPs) of South Waziristan Agency would be registered and provided complete support from the government till the issue is settled. Government is providing relief goods to IDPs besides Pakistan Army and NGOs are also supporting them, he added.
To another question, Malik said that four explosive scanners have been imported from China for installation at different points in Islamabad to avert terrorist attacks. "These explosive scanners will be handed over to the police for installation," Malik opined. He said that the government is also considering review of the draft FIR, which is 100 years old. "We will change the whole FIR draft and fair and transparent pattern would be introduced to ensure public friendly and fair policing," he said.
Interior Minister said that government has received very positive response regarding the membership of Youth Volunteer Action Force as 300 students have approached their relevant Police Station to get them registered. The Prime Minister Yausuf Raza Gilani will inaugurate it when its membership reached up to 1000. Sufficient stipend will also be given to the force and it will be considered equal to reserved force. He called upon the youth to extent their co-operation to the law enforcement agencies so that effective action could be taken against militants.
