Inspector General of National Highways & Motorway Police (NH&MP), Dr Wasim Kausar has said that NH&MP help 2,700 road users daily, instead of charging fine/challan only, as safety and security of lives of the road users is the top priority of NH&MP.
He was addressing in a workshop on 'Road Safety' organised by the NH&MP, Lahore. He said that it is a fact that the nations are recognised by their traffic discipline. It has rightly been said, "if you intend to observe the discipline of a nation, see their traffic culture".
It is also a fact that in the past the issues of road safety were not properly addressed in the county either by the government or by the road users themselves. However, after hectic efforts of NH&MP, people are now seen abiding by the traffic laws, while the drivers wear seat belt regularly and observe the traffic rules in a better way, he added.
He said that it is the duty of every citizen to abide by the traffic rules and to follow the road safety precautionary measures to save not only their own lives, but also the lives of others. While speaking on the occasion, the DIG Syed Ibne Hussain said that Motorway Police have changed the police culture and ensured a safe and trouble free journey for the people of the country.
