Minister opens natural products laboratory at Punjab University

Provincial Minister for Agriculture Malik Ahmad Ali Aulakh inaugurated Natural Products Laboratory at Punjab University Institute of Mycology and Plant Pathology. Vice-Chancellor Professor Mujahid Kamran, Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Jamil Anwar and Director Professor Rukhsana Bajwa were also present on the occasion.
Provincial Minister visited laboratory where he was briefed about preparing of different products of Alo vera. Dr Rukhsana said that the quality product prepared in the laboratory was provided only on Rs 300 as compared with low quality product available in the market on higher rates and the price of the same product was Rs 3200 in America.
Provincial Minister and Vice-Chancellor visited Micro Mycology Laboratory where research work was conducted on the genes of Fungus Enzymes. They also visited Molecular Pathalogy Lab of the Institute.
Provincial Minister said that Pakistan is basically agricultural based country but unfortunately we had problems of food. This year due to record wheat production of 3.7 million ton we would meet our requirements. He said that all varsities should conduct research on these diseases which harm our production.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Mujahid Karman said that only knowledgeable nations dominate the world. Whosoever spends on research get its fruit in the shape of honour, wealth and power. He said that important research was conducting in the varsities due to the policies of Higher Education Commission. He congratulated Professor Rukhsana Bajwa on conducting practical research in the institute.
