The Lahore High Court has allowed bail to Muhammad Azam Chisti, the Chief Executive of Forex company Aegies. Earlier, the applicant counsel Azhar Saddique contended before the court that Chisti was in jail for the last two and half years but his reference was not disposed of in accordance with the law.
He said that under the NAB ordinance provision trial against any accused should be completed within one month but the NAB court did not even frame charges against him. He also contended that there were 124 witnesses in the case, hence it would take a long time to dispose of the case.
The counsel of NAB opposing the bail application contended that earlier residing officers for the NAB court were short. However, now the case would be disposed of at the earliest. The court observed that how could an accused could be kept in jail for more than two years even without framing charges against him and allowed the bail.
