New Zealand shares closed 0.88 percent lower Friday, in line with other regional markets, dealers said. The benchmark NZX-50 index fell 27.55 points to 3,113.63 on light turnover worth 70.7 million dollars (51.6 million US). There were 58 falls and 22 rises among the 116 stocks traded. New Zealand Refining Co fell four cents to 5.02 dollars, Nuplex dropped four cents to 2.46 and Tower lost a cent to 1.75.
