Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Sunday said Karachi was the industrial and financial hub and all possible measures be taken to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity to the Karachiites. He was presiding over a meeting of PPP Karachi Co-ordination Committee and high-officials of Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) at CM's House here.
The meeting was also attended by Federal Minister for Water and Power, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, General Secretary PPP Sindh, Taj Haider, President PPP Karachi Division, Syed Najmi Alam, MNA Abdul Qadir Patel and others.
The CM Sindh asked the authorities concerned to rapidly complete the power supply projects of Sindh and federal governments. Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said President.
Prime Minister and whole Cabinet are worried about the power crisis and all out efforts were being made to overcome the crisis.
He said uninterrupted power supply in Karachi was a big challenge for the government. He said total eight companies including the KESC are working in Pakistan, out of which, four have improved their billing and supply system at par with international standards while the remaining companies will also improve their systems.
He directed KESC officials to improve the power supply system in the city and implement the development projects and the projects about electricity supply of MNAs and the Prime Minister be also completed timely. Briefing the meeting, Managing Director KESC, Tabish Gohar apprised about the schedule of power break down in the city.
He said the load shedding was not being carried out in industrial areas as well as the areas, where the important medical centres are situated. He said the investment of total $193 million have been made since December 2008 to improve the supply and production system of the utility.
Co-ordinator PPP Karachi Co-ordination Committee, Taj Haider presented a suggestion that the Karachiites and business community be taken into confidence to prepare the schedule of electricity load shedding.
