'Government striving for uplift of education, health, economy'

Chairperson NCHD Pakistan, MNA Syeda Nafisa Shah Jillani has said that present government is trying its best for the promotion of education, health & economy of the country. This she said while addressing as a chief guest in the first two-day national conference on microbiology today, at Allama I.I. Kazi hall at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur.
She said that Khairpur will soon be full of universities, colleges, schools, playgrounds and parks, and efforts are being made in this regard. She said that such conferences arrange meeting of scholarly minds and are very important for the academia for a platform to regenerate knowledge and open new vistas of future research and scientific findings in various fields. Chairperson NCHD emphasised that the study of microbiology is very important because the micro-organisms contribute in the environment, ecology and in the lifestyles of various living things. MNA Nafisa Shah stressed that interactive knowledge is very important in this information age and such conferences will be highly encouraged. She said she would try to include the subject of microbiology at school and college level also in the examinations of public service commissions. She congratulated the Vice Chancellor of the varsity Professor Dr Nilofer Shaikh for organising the conference. On the request of the VC, she promised to early release the funds of the varsity.
In her speech, the VC said microbiology and archaeology are neglected subjects at the college and school levels, and that efforts are being made for the promotion of both subjects. She requested to concerned quarters of the government authorities for the approval and release of the budget of different projects of the university including University Model School and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair.
Professor Dr Shahana Urooj Kazmi, during her lecture on "Recombinant Vaccines and other Macro Molecules in the Control of Human & Animal Disease," she said that retirement age of professors, scientists may be changed from 60 to 65, as lot of professors and scientists are working for promotion of scientific activities. She stressed that preventive measures may be taken for pilgrims from Swine Fu virus because millions of Muslims from various countries gather at the Holy Place, and chances of transmission of epidemic virus have increased.
Professor Dr Miandad Zardari presented Vote of thanks in the conference while Professor Dr Yasmeen F. Kazi made welcome speech in the conference. The professors, scientists, scholars and academia of various institutes of the country participated at the event.
