Shopkeepers are fleecing the buyers, who have no choice but to buy the items at expensive rates as Eid ut Azha is fast approaching. Shoppers are roaming the markets, checking out the latest in designs and gift items. Traders, who are gearing up for the year's second biggest shoping time.
Most of the buyers are visiting weekly bazaars in the federal capital to purchase different items especially for kids. The weekly bazaars are full with different Eid items. A trader at weekly bazaar Kiramat ullah said that most of the people are coming for shopping to his stall and asking for discount rates especially for the outlets of the kids. Hundreds of customers are visiting to the weekly bazaars for shopping, while comparatively the rates of different items are low in these weekly bazaars.
Girls especially find some moments while buying bangles, garments, gifts, shoes and other accessories despite overcharging by the shopkeepers. As Eid-ul-Azha is approaching fast, Eid shopping is yet to gain more momentum.
Due to pressing demands of children, most of parents reluctantly visit markets for shopping, as overcharging was on rise.
"Eid is a happy moment for us, and despite of fleecing we are in the market to purchase eid stuff like kids garments, shoes etc", said a woman Azra buying garments in Abpara market.
A large number of makeshift shops and small outlets selling traditional Eid items have sprung up on the pavements of the twin cities. Most of the rich buyers are crowding different shopping centres while the low-income group people are also seen purchasing their desired items from the weekly bazaar or street shops in the city.
