Shahbaz for revolutionary measures to develop livestock sector

Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif chairing a high-powered meeting on livestock dairy development here Tuesday, said that in order to develop economy of the province and well being of the farmer, it was imperative that livestock and dairy development took place here.
He said revolutionary measures would be taken in this regard which includes establishment of animal market, conference hall and exhibition centre in Patoki. He averred that industrial estate on live stock would be built up in the area, and added that in Bhawalpur, a state of the art university and business estate in Cholistan would be established. He instructed on the occasion to build up a five-year plan for development of live stock in Lahore.
The Chief Minister criticised the performance of poultry farming in public sector in this regard, and directed to bring development in the sector. Shahbaz Sharif said that a state of the art slaughterhouse would be built in Shah Pur Kanjran. He said investors conference on dairy development should be held in which people from Dera Ghazi Khan and Bhawalpur should be invited.
The CM said that in order to provide facilities to farmers, this year, Rs 500 million had been allocated. In the meeting, it was told that Slaughter Act 2009 has been made.
