A three member Yemeni delegation headed by Dr Hameed Al-Huzafi, Inspector GMB, Supreme Board of Drugs met representatives of pharmaceutical industry of Pakistan at a local hotel here on Wednesday. The meeting was organised with the help of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). The members of the Yemeni delegation told Pakistani exporters about the procedure of doing business particularly in health sector in Yemen.
The meeting discussed the prospects of trade between the two countries in pharmaceutical sector. Dr Huzafi while talking to Business Recorder has said that the purpose of their visit was to enhance trade between the two countries especially in the field of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.
"We are here to guide the Pakistani exporters about the registration and requirement to work in the pharmaceutical sector and to register in Yemen," he said. He said that it was necessary for Pakistani pharmaceutical exporters to follow Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP).
President Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) Hamid Raza said that Yemen was potential market for the exports of pharmaceutical products. "The purpose of the meeting is to explore the potential of the market for Pakistani products," he said. He appreciated the efforts of the TDAP for organising the meeting with the Yemeni delegation.
A member of the Yemeni delegation, Professor Hussain Alkadi said that such type of visits would help enhancing the trade between Pakistan and Yemen. Another delegate Mazan Ltuf of Zanjabeel Pharmaceutical said that the trade between the two countries should be enhanced in every field.
The representatives of the companies who met Yemeni delegation include M/S Schazoo Laboratories, Lahore, M/S Remington Pharmaceuticals Lahore, M/S Pharmix Laboratories, Lahore, M/S Reko Pharmaceutical, Lahore, M/S Don Valley Lahore, M/S Faisal Pharmaceutical Industries Faisalabad, M/S Paramount Pharmaceuticals, Islamabad and Yashfeen Pharmaceuticals.
