Secretary General Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Jehangir Badar has demanded National Accountability Bureau (NAB) action on references against former President Farooq Leghari to recover looted money from him. The PPP Secretary General was addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club here on Wednesday.
A large number of PPP workers raised slogans against Leghari and demanded early action against him. Badar said that the former president had purchased valuable land worth billions on throwaway price. "The government should get the land vacated from the former president immediately," he said. He criticised Leghari for betraying Benazir Bhutto. "Leghari betrayed the party and played an important role in strengthening the rule of a dictator," he asserted.
According to the PPP General Secretary, Awais Leghari, son of former President was also involved in the privatisation of PTCL so a reference should be filed against him. He said the PPP would soon inform the public on actual agreement between Benazir Bhutto and Pervez Musharraf relating to the NRO.
