Partly Facetious: President Zardari is a student of history?

26 Nov, 2009

"Manmohan Singh gets invited to a state dinner at the White House and our Asif Ali Zardari doesn't, and mind our president has been in the US on numerous state visits right!"
"Hey he got the Kerry-Lugar bill."
"You are surely not referring to that as his achievement when the rest of the country has thumbed its nose at the bill. Besides it's not even clear if the Americans, much angered at our reaction, are even preparing the appropriations bill that would start the ball rolling in terms of extending assistance under the Kerry-Lugar bill."
"Well, let me say that Pakistan and the US have a more strategic partnership than India and the US and that is why there was no need to invite Zardari at the White House while there was a need to invite Singh and his wife."
"I see and I suppose you can also argue that as Zardari has no spouse and it is not quite politic to take your daughter or son to these functions, therefore, Zardari couldn't get an invite to the White House."
"Do you reckon if BB was alive and our PM, Zardari would have been invited as first spouse!"
"Indeed, as Zardari may not have yet learnt there is many a slip between being the president and the first spouse."
"You need to get a control of yourself."
"It's not my fault. Zardari Sahib makes it so very easy. I mean he and his Zardis unerringly do and say the wrong thing and at the wrong time."
"Zardari Sahib is a student of history and he has stated this umpteen times. Just you wait till he finally passes the history exams!"
"I and the rest of my country people will wait with bated breath."
