Fish exports grow by 37.85 percent

Seafood exports during October 2009 witnessed positive growth of 37.85 percent as compared to the exports of September 2009. Fish and fish preparation exports were recorded at $24.826 million during October 2009 as compared to the exports of $18.009 million recording during September 2009, according to Federal Bureau of Statistics.
As compared to the fish exports of $24.562 million recorded during October 2008, the exports during the month under review witnessed nominal growth of 1.07 percent, the figures revealed.
Seafood exports during July-October (2009-10) witnessed negative growth of 16.49 percent as compared to the exports of the corresponding period of last year. Fish and fish preparation exports during the first four months of the current year were recorded at $59.195 million against the exports of 70.882 million recorded during July-October (2008-09).
