Roma Club take All Punjab Model Town Soccer Cup

Sabzazar's famous Roma Football Club continued their giant-killing act in final when they caused sensational solitary goal win over formidable Real Lahore to win the title of All Punjab Model Town Soccer Cup at Fame Sports Academy Ground, A-B Garden, Model Town, Lahore.
The tense absorbing final saw winger Muhammad Asif steering the lone goal in 25th minute of play when his the low and forceful drive went pass through the clutches of Real's keeper Muhammad Ali. Asif side steeped two defenders in the middle and did the rest with fine style. Real went all out for leveller but Siddiq Qadri-coached Roma's stopper Hikmat Ullah proved too smart for them.
The Model Town Society (MTS)'s President Colonel Tahir Kardar (Retd), who was chief guest at prize distribution ceremony, appreciated the organisational quality of Fame Club's management who ran the event in befitting manner. He also promised to construct pavilion in the ground as well as soccer event under MTS near future.
Kardar urged the youth to participate in healthy outdoor activities for development and enhancement of their mental and physical capabilities. He said that the age-old saying "healthy mind in a healthy body" is much valid today as was in the past. He added that physically healthy can actively participate in the development of the country and the uplift of the people.
Roma's skipper Muhammad Bilal lifted winning trophy and purse of Rs 10, 000 while Real's captain Subhan get cash prize of Rs 5000 along with runner-up trophy. Faisal Khan, who received third-place trophy of Wohaib Football Club, voted Most Valuable Player while Muhammad Ali received best GK Award. Fame Club's Tajamal Ahmed Khan, on behalf of organisers, presented Kardar lovely souvenir on this occasion.
