Mumbai attacks case: Indian judge decides against removing Kasab's attorney

28 Nov, 2009

An Indian judge has decided against removing the lawyer of the only surviving gunman in last year's Mumbai terrorist attacks. Judge M.L. Tahiliyani says he accepted an apology from defence lawyer Abbas Kazmi in the court on Friday. A dispute arose on Thursday after defence lawyer Abbas Kazmi accused the prosecutor of committing legal impropriety by handing him the copies of some witnesses' statements without submitting them to the court first.
Judge Tahiliyani stated that the court had already been informed of the decision to submit the statements in Kazmi's presence and accused the defence attorney of lying in court. The judge threatened to remove Kazmi.
