MQM and PPP agree to patch up differences: Rehman calls on Altaf

Interior Minister Rehman Malik held a meeting with MQM leader Altaf Hussain in London Sunday and conveyed the goodwill messages of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. According to Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) announcement, this meeting was held at party's International Secretariat in London and both the leaders discussed the coalition issues and present political situation in the country.
They agreed to resolve all the issues with mutual understanding and continue to play their effective role for strengthening the democratic system and in the interest of the country and its people. Interior Minister also appreciated the welcoming statement of Altaf Hussain in response to President Asif Ali Zardari's statement in which MQM chief had instructed party leaders to defuse tension by adopting the approach of wisdom and prudence.
Rehman Malik also informed Altaf Hussain about the progress on the war against terror and security situation in the country. Earlier, Interior Minister held a detailed meeting with the members of MQM Rabita Committee. Mohammad Anwar, Saleem Shehzad, Tariq Javed, Anis Advocate, Asif Siddiqui and Mustafa Azizabadi attended the meeting.
It was decided to continue the policy of resolving differences with mutual understanding. They also agreed to refrain from issuing any such statement, which can trigger misunderstanding between the coalition partners. They decided to ensure mutual consultation at top level of both the parties to avoid any unpleasant situation on any issue in future.
