'Loadshedding significantly decreased'

01 Dec, 2009

The Managing Director of Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco), Tahir Basharat Cheema has claimed that load shedding has significantly decreased since a few months. While talking to a private TV news channel, he claimed that load shedding, in most parts of the country, has ended.
He however said that it would restart due to the annual closure of canals, from December 21. MD Pepco maintained that at least 1600 megawatts of electricity would be incorporated in the system by December 30, and the power shortfall will dwindle into nothing through installation of more rental powerhouses by June 2010. Cheema said people will have to bear up the burden of further increase in power tariffs, but would be given relief, with the improving circumstances.
