Thousands of twin cities' residents converged in the parks and public places to rejoice Eid-ul-Azha festivities amid cooler temperatures. After spending two days in prime segment of sacrificing animals, scores of people including children and women descended on recreational sites on Monday. Subsequently, picnic spots in Islamabad and adjoining Rawalpindi witnessed traditional festivity on third day of Eid.
People mostly visited Fatima Jinnah Park, Ayub Park, Nawaz Sharif Park, Shakarparian, Pakistan Monument, Marghazar Zoo, Rawal Lake, Daman-e-Koh, Monal Resort, Pir Sohawa, Rose and Jasmine Garden in the pleasant cloudy weather. Interestingly, cooler temperature, seasonal winter flowers, fallen leafs and beautiful trees added attractive colours to the canvas of celebrations on this auspicious occasion.
Besides, many families also paid visit to Bari Imam shrine, Golra Sharif and grand Faisal Mosque of the capital during the Eid days, it was observed. "Well, too much fascinating it feels to be with friends on this beautiful spot, especially because its Eid all around and everybody is happy," said Abdul Majid, who was on visit at Rawal Lake View Park. He said they had came on bikes all the way from Rawalpindi to have fun at bank of the lake. Similarly, Rehana, a housewife said they were enjoying last Eid holiday as first two days were dedicated for sacrifice and dealing with the guests. "You know, how much busy we women remain in kitchen on Baqra Eid, so its our right to come for hang out," she remarked. Besides locals, many families came here from cities like Jehlum, Gujranwala and Attock to enjoy Eid holidays. Naeem Ahmed, who arrived from Kharian, said that Pakistan Monument was an ideal spot for picnic as it overlooked the entire city. "It's awesome to witness the scene down from Margalla Hills to the Zero Point," he said.
The zoo and its adjacent children park pulled large crowds. Parking lots at Daman-i-Koh and Pir Sohawa fell short of space because everyone has to come here in their own cars or taxis.
Many people opted for Murree and Bhurban to experience the chill after mutton and beef eating days in warm indoor temperatures at homes. Meanwhile, at public parks, stall- holders selling snacks, tea and soft drinks made a good business, while fast food outlets and restaurants also made good business.
Islamabad Traffic Police had made adequate arrangements to prevent the youths from performing stunts. A traffic police official available at help line 1915, told APP that overall 271 policemen were deployed on routes of picnic spots. "We have comparatively more focus at Bari Imam, Rawal Lake, Golra Sharif, Faisal Mosque and Damn-e-Koh to ensure smooth flow and manage proper parking," he said.
