Saifullah slams government for hike in POL prices

02 Dec, 2009

President Pakistan Muslim League-Like Minded group, Salim Saifullah, on Tuesday said that the recent increase in the petroleum products' prices showed the government was not ready to give any relief to the already inflation-hit masses. He said apparently the government was all set to snatch all the comforts of life from the common men.
While declaring the hike an "Eid gift" to the people of Pakistan from the government, Saifullah said that his party would raise the issue in the Parliament during the upcoming session, adding that the increase will aggravate inflation."On one hand the common man is forced to commit suicide due to ever increasing price hike and on the other the contingent of ministers, parliamentary secretaries and heads of independent institutions are enjoying all the luxuries of life", Saifullah remarked while criticising the government.
He said the performance of the incumbent government has disappointed the masses and they were praying for the departure of the rulers. He urged the government to focus on addressing the real issues, and observed that the PPP-led federal government was committing the same mistakes, which led to the collapse of Musharraf's regime.
