The Pakistan Peoples Party, opposing propaganda against President Asif Ali Zardari by some 'anti-democratic forces', said the party was a symbol of the federation and Asif Ali Zardari its co-chairman. "Any move to weaken the federation will be foiled," PPP leaders Abdul Qadir Shaheen, Afnan Butt, Salim Mughal and Chaudhry Matloob Wariach vowed in a joint statement on Tuesday.
They said the party was united under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari as he was striving to overcome crises facing the country. "Asif Ali Zardari has introduced a policy of reconciliation to strengthen democracy in the country," they added. They claimed that the PPP would complete its tenure and win the next general elections with majority on the basis of its performance.
They said the new package for Balochistan, presented by the government in the National Assembly, would help end sense of deprivation among the Baloch. "The PPP is the first political party which has taken an initiative to resolve problems of Baloch people," they added.
