The arrangements for holding 6th Agriculture Census 2010 were reviewed at a meeting, held under the chairmanship of EDO Revenue, District Ghotki. The census will be completed in three stages with the Punjab and Sindh to be covered in the first stage, warm areas of NWFP and Balochistan in the second stage and cold areas of NWFP and Balochistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir in the third stage, respectively.
In this regard, a formal training of staff of the revenue department would start from December 14, 2009. Soon after the training, original questionnaires will be filled up by January 31, 2010 and deposited in respective tehsil offices. The work of agriculture census throughout the country will be accomplished under the supervision of Commissioner Agriculture Census Organisation, Liaqauat Ali Shah Hamdani.
Earlier, agriculture census had been carried out in 1960, 1972, 1980, 1990 and 2000. The objective of holding agriculture census is to study the country's agricultural resources, chalk out better and useful strategy, and prepare development plans.
