Qazi fears US and Israel may attack nuclear sites

07 Dec, 2009

Former Amir Jamaat-i-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmad has expressed the apprehension that US, Israel and India might attack nuclear installation of Pakistan any time due to, what he said, the wrong policies of the rulers.
"It is misfortune of the nation that the "plunderers" of national wealth and "criminals" are ruling the country after getting benefit under the infamous National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO)," he said while talking to journalists after addressing the launching ceremony of the book of eminent scholar, Manzoor Ahmad, at Al-Hamrah organised by Majlis-e-Pakistan here on Sunday.
Qazi said that neither the Pakistan Army nor the courts could protect the country. "Only the people of Pakistan can protect the integrity and solidarity of the country and it is the need of the hour to create awareness among the masses," he added.
He said that the US administration was disillusioned about al Qaeda , therefore they were claiming that Osama and its companions were in Pakistan. He said America and its allies had failed to get any clue about the whereabouts of Osama during the past eight years.
He said that law and order situation in the country was worsening day by day. "Scholars like Manzoor Ahmad and his piece of literature in form of the book is not less than a fresh air that gives hope to the people in the environment of insecurity and corruption," he added.
He said that foreign hands were involved in the suicide attacks and terrorist activities in the country. Expressing deep grief over the Rawalpindi mosque tragedy, he called upon the government to review its policies.
To a question he said US wanted to make Pakistan as the centre of its Afghan war, and had planned to expand drone attacks in Pakistan. Prof. Yusaf Irfan, Maulana Ameer Hamza, Muzamil Katoon and writer Manzoor Ahmad also spoke on the occasion.
